LKR 3 Million in Equipment Handed Over to the Nalanda Life Saving Association
On 5 June 2026 the Old Nalandians’ Association of Australia handed over a consignment of rescue and training equipment worth LKR 3 million to the Nalanda Life Saving Association at Nalanda College, Colombo. 🛟
Supporting a Team That Saves Lives
The Nalanda Life Saving Association trains students in water rescue, first aid and surf life saving, skills they carry well beyond the pool and the beach. Competing at a high level, and keeping trainees safe while they learn, depends on proper gear that is often expensive and hard to source locally. This donation was put together to close that gap.
What Was Donated
The handover included rescue helmets, life jackets, rescue ropes and throw lines, paddles and other equipment the team uses for both training and competition. Every item was chosen with the coaches to match what the squad needs most this season and in the years ahead.
The Handover
The equipment was formally presented at Nalanda College in the presence of the Principal, teachers in charge of the Life Saving Association, and the student life savers who will put it to use. Representing the Melbourne alumni community, our committee handed the gear over on behalf of every Nalandian in Australia who contributed.
Powered by the Nalanda Family in Australia
This gift was made possible by the generosity of our members and well-wishers. It continues a tradition of Nalandians in Australia giving back to the school that shaped us, from the Centenary Building Project to the Nalanda Rugby Development Fund, and now to the life savers of Nalanda.
Thank You
Our heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, and to the Principal, staff and students of Nalanda College for their warm welcome. To the Nalanda Life Saving Association: train hard, stay safe, and make us proud. 💛❤️
